Big Improvements, Bigger Adventures at Broad Creek

Big Improvements, Bigger Adventures at Broad Creek

Summer is almost here, and Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation is ready to welcome Scouts and families for another season of unforgettable adventure. With major facility upgrades, exciting program enhancements, and new experiences for both Scouts BSA and Cub Scouts, Broad Creek continues to invest in creating a camp experience that is engaging, comfortable, and memorable for every age.

What’s New at Broad Creek

Significant improvements across camp are enhancing both summer camp and year-round programs.

New Comfort Stations
Three brand-new comfort stations are now open and operational across camp. Each air-conditioned/heating controlled building includes 10 private, single-person stalls, each with a toilet, sink, and shower—adding 30 new restrooms and showers for campers and leaders. These facilities dramatically improve comfort, privacy, and accessibility throughout camp.

Program Area Improvements
Five program pavilions in Camp Saffran have been upgraded with new concrete floors, improving safety and functionality for instructional areas used throughout the summer. Thank you to Hallaton Environmental Linings, M-Luis Construction, and Nentico Lodge 12 for their generous donation of time, talent, and treasure in support of this project.

Brighter Dining Spaces
LED lighting upgrades are now complete in all three dining pavilions in Camp Saffran, Oest, and Spencer. This new lighting will create brighter, more energy-efficient spaces for meals, gatherings, and other events. A big thank-you to Andy Cabrera and Lightility for helping make this improvement possible.

Scouts BSA Resident Camp

Scouts BSA Resident Camp at Broad Creek offers a dynamic, well-rounded camp experience that blends outdoor adventure, skill development, and leadership growth. Set between the rolling hills of Harford County and the Susquehanna River, Broad Creek provides Scouts with access to diverse landscapes and program areas that support a wide range of interests and abilities.

Scouts can expect a full week of engaging activities, including:

  • Swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, and other aquatic programs

  • Shooting sports and climbing

  • Outdoor skills and hands-on trade programs

  • Nature exploration and environmental education

  • Evening programs that build camaraderie and Scout spirit

For Summer 2026, program enhancements are underway to improve scheduling, instructional quality, and overall camper experience—ensuring that time at camp is both rewarding and fun for Scouts at every stage of their Scouting journey.

Whether a Scout is attending camp for the first time or returning year after year, Broad Creek remains Baltimore’s flagship Scouting adventure. To learn more or to register, visit www.BroadCreekScouting.org/Summer

Cub Scout Resident Camp

Cub Scout Resident Camp is Broad Creek’s introductory sleep-away camp experience, designed specifically to meet the needs of Cub Scouts and their families. Cub Adventure Camp blends age-appropriate outdoor learning with exciting group activities in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Each day, Cub Scouts camp with their family or Pack, then split into dens for round-robin activities across Broad Creek’s outdoor learning facilities. Daily programs include boating, outdoor skills, nature activities, BB shooting, archery, slingshot, STEM, swimming, arts and crafts, team-building games, and—just for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts—climbing.

Evenings bring Cubs together for special campwide programs like campfire shows, pool parties, songfests, and staff-led games, creating lasting memories and friendships.

All Cub Scouts attend with supervision from a parent or two-deep registered Pack leadership, and Packs are encouraged to submit a single registration to streamline check-in and reporting. More information on registration can be found at www.BroadCreekScouting.org/Cubs or by contacting our Camping Director, Alex Stout at Alex.Stout@Scouting.org.

Project M.O.O.S.E. Experience (Webelos & Arrow of Light Scouts)

For older Cub Scouts ready for a bigger challenge, Project M.O.O.S.E. (Maximum Outdoor Overnight Scout Experience) offers an exciting optional extension to Cub Resident Camp.

This add-on experience provides an additional night and day of adventure, exclusively for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts. Participants travel by canoe to a remote outpost, where they run their own campfire, enjoy s’mores and outdoor cooking, brand personal items, and sleep under the stars.

Project M.O.O.S.E. is designed to give older Cub Scouts a more immersive outdoor experience and serve as a natural bridge between Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA—while maintaining the supportive structure families expect. Learn more on Project M.O.O.S.E at www.BroadCreekScouting.org/Cubs.
