2025 Baltimore Area Council Highlights
As we turn the page to a new Scouting year, it’s important to pause and celebrate what made 2025 such a meaningful year for the Baltimore Area Council. Below are 25 highlights that capture the progress, growth, and community impact achieved through the shared commitment of our Scouting family.
1.
Recognized with two Scouting America National Marketing awards for Digital Marketing and Fundraising Development.
2.
Recruited over 11% more youth over the previous year, including a 16% increase in the number of new Cub Scouts recruited.
3.
Fall Roundup partnership with Ledo’s Pizza provided 1,550 new Cub Scout with a certificate for a personal pan pizza and a pizza party for 105 Cub Scout Packs that had an increase in year-end membership.
4.
Through the annual Scouting for Food drive our Scouts provided over 8,000 hours of service collecting 124,926 pounds of food distributed to more than 50 local food pantries.
5.
The Baltimore Area Council ended the year as the 12th largest youth membership council in the nation out of 230 Councils.
6.
Cub Scout Resident Camp at Broad Creek continued to have growth year over year with a 17% increase over 2024.
7.
Spring and Fall Cub Family Weekends at Broad Creek continued to be sold out events with over 565 participants in attendance at each of the 2 weekends.
8.
Raised $2,361,042 in new capital funds for the Broad Creek Capital Campaign.
9.
The fifth year of the Broad Creek Camp Staff College Scholarship program secured $50,000 in funding and awarded $25,000 in college scholarship to 11 camp staff members with the restricted endowment now exceeding $100,000.
10.
Continued success with the Broad Creek corporate volunteer days resulting in four BG&E, two Erickson Senior Living, and one SECU credit Union group coming to Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation to work on various projects.
11.
Broad Creek was selected by the Maryland Arborist Association for their 2025 annual day of service. Twelve tree service companies participated with over 75 workers who trimmed, chipped, and cleared 130 trees.
12.
Partnered with the Union Sportsmen Alliance and Hallaton Environmental Linings to construct 2 new campsite pavilions in Camp Saffran.
13.
Fick Brothers Roofing donated the replacement of the roof at Conowingo Cabin. Harview Roofers donated their services to replace the roof at the Administration Building in Camp Saffran. The Nentico Lodge donated the roof replacement of the Order of the Arrow Trading Post.
14.
Completed and fully funded the construction of three Broad Creek/Camp Saffran Comfort/Restroom Stations at a cost of $2.5M. Each station has ten stalls complete with their own shower, toilet, and sink, offering privacy and complete amenities to our guests.
15.
After 27 years, the relocation and renovation of the Baltimore Scout Shop back to the Scout Service Center and transferred from a National BSA Scout Shop to a local council operated store.
16.
We are one of 14 Councils to receive a three-year funding of $75,000 annually for a Unit Growth Director position through the Lilly Foundation and National Council to increase the units and membership in our Council.
17.
Started 14 new units in underserved communities; expanded Scoutreach program with Archbishop Borders to serve two additional grades.
18.
Through the college internship program, the Council secured 5 interns this Fall/Spring semester representing the University of Maryland, Morgan State and Towson University.
19.
National Pike and River Hawk Districts achieved the District Achievement Award Recognizing District that achieve established benchmarks for excellence.
20.
Conducted Scouting’s Report to the County presentations at County Board meetings led by Eagle Scouts, showcasing the impact of Scouting in Harford, Carroll, Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties.
21.
Reintroduced the Volunteer Training Summit with a new format, location and curriculum and had 250 volunteers in attendance.
22.
3,000 youth and family members attend the Orioles Scout Day, making it one of the largest outside group sales for the Orioles and largest gathering of Scouts in Maryland.
23.
Instituted a volunteer Council Information Technology Committee of industry professionals to address the current and future needs of the Council IT operations.
24.
In 2025, the Baltimore Area Council had 400 young men and women achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
25.
Our Scouts shared the joy of Scouting with all of Central Maryland through our segments on WJZ’s Midday Maryland, Fox45 WBFF, and WBAL-TV
Building on this success and the support is over 5,000 registered Scouting volunteers, I know 2026 is going to be another outstanding year for Scouting in the Baltimore Area Council!
