Letter from the Scout Executive: September 2025

The strongest Scouting units know that a well-planned program is the key to growth and retention. As your unit prepares for the 2025–2026 program year, be sure to include these council-wide events in your calendar. Each one offers unique opportunities to strengthen your unit, connect with the wider Scouting community, and give families memorable experiences that keep them engaged.

Scouting for Food

This is the Council-wide annual Good Turn to help those in our communities in need. Scouting for Food is an easy activity to get your Unit involved with. The Council will provide any Unit that registers Scouting for Food doorhangers for youth to distribute throughout the community.  and youth participation patches. Your unit picks the day in March to distribute the door hangers and the day of collection. Your unit also determines what local charity/pantry receives the food that you collected. Several units have moved towards a food collection station outside of their local stores. Make sure your unit is part of the largest Good Turn in the greater Baltimore area and participate in the Scouting for Food drive next year.

Scout Day at Camden Yards

Mark your calendar for May 2026 and be part of one of our biggest traditions—Scout Day with the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards! Each year, more than 3,000 Scouts, leaders, and family members fill the ballpark to cheer on the O’s together. Tickets are sold directly by the Council at a heavily discounted rate, making this the perfect outing for your unit or family. Don’t miss the largest annual gathering of Scouts in the Maryland area—come enjoy a day of baseball, community, and Scouting pride.

Volunteer Training Summit

Looking for a way to jumpstart your unit—or take it to the next level? The Volunteer Training Summit is your chance to connect with other Scouting volunteers, gain fresh insights, and bring new energy to your program. This year’s summit takes place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Archbishop Curley High School (3701 Sinclair Lane, Baltimore). With new and exclusive classes, opportunities for youth participation, and more, the summit is getting a major revamp. Come be part of a full day of learning, inspiration, and fun designed to equip you and your unit for success.

Monthly Roundtables

Stay informed, connected, and inspired by attending your District’s Monthly Leader Roundtable. These gatherings are one of the best ways to keep up with local Scouting news, share best practices, and discover upcoming activities in your area. Barring any special circumstances (weather, District Dinner events, etc.), roundtables are typically held on the following schedule:

  • Fort McHenry, Harford, National Pike, and River Hawk Districts: 2nd Monday of each month

  • Gunpowder Falls and Carroll Districts: 2nd Tuesday of each month

For the most up-to-date information on dates, times, and locations, please visit the Council calendar: www.BaltimoreScouting.org/Calendar. Make Roundtables a regular part of your Scouting journey and bring back fresh ideas and resources to strengthen your unit.
