A Step-by-Step Guide to Renewing Your Child’s Scouting Membership
Renewing your child’s Scouting membership doesn’t have to be stressful. Keeping your child engaged in Scouting is easy when you know the steps to renew their membership. Here’s a clear walkthrough to guide parents and guardians through the online renewal process, so you can ensure your Scout remain part of the program that fosters adventure, leadership, and lifelong skills!
Mark Your Calendars!
Renewals can be processed up to 60 days before and 90 days after a membership’s expiration. During this lapse period, be sure to act quickly to avoid interruptions in your child’s Scouting experience.
Logging In
- Begin by logging into your My.Scouting account.
- Look for a red notice icon in the top right corner of the dashboard. Click on it and then on the notification that appears.
Reviewing Registrations
You’ll see all youth linked to your account with memberships nearing expiration (within 60 days). Follow these steps:
- If your child is not renewing, select Opt-Out Auto Renewal to stop receiving reminder emails. Be cautious—if you opt out accidentally, you’ll need to contact your local council for corrections.
- You can only renew one membership at a time.
Starting the Renewal
- Select Start Renewal for the youth you wish to renew.
- Review the information listed is correct. This includes your child’s name, Unit information, and Scouting position.
Payment Options
Once the information is verified:
- Click Go to Payment to proceed.
- Carefully review the terms and conditions, then sign by typing your name.
- On the summary page, note that Scout Life Magazine is automatically selected. If you do not wish to subscribe, uncheck the box to adjust the total.
Payment Methods
You have two payment options:
- Pay at Council: Scroll down and select Print for Manual Pay. This creates a PDF you can take to your council office to pay in person.
- Credit Card: Enter your payment details. Ensure the billing address matches your credit card’s information. If it differs, uncheck the pre-filled address and update accordingly.
Final Steps
After your payment is processed:
- View and save your receipt.
- Click the Complete Registration button to return to your My.Scouting dashboard.
- Repeat the process for any additional children.
Once complete, your child’s membership will be renewed for another year, and they can continue their Scouting journey uninterrupted!
