Membership Monday: Navigating Membership Renewal

Welcome to another edition of Membership Monday! Today, we’re focusing on the new membership renewal process that’s being implemented this year. The process is changing, offering different options for units: family/self-pay and unit pay. Let’s break down these options and how they work.

Family and Self-Pay Option

The family and self-pay option is the default setup for membership renewal. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how it works:

1. Notification and Link: Families will receive an email with a renewal link.
2. Renewal Form: Clicking the link takes them to a renewal form on My.Scouting.
3. Multiple Registrations: Adults registered in multiple units (such as a pack and a troop) will select their primary position, and additional positions will be renewed simultaneously.
4. Payment: Individuals pay using a credit or debit card and submit the renewal.
5. Approval: The unit will then approve the membership renewal.

Unit Pay Option

The unit pay option is ideal for units that conduct a lot of fundraising and wish to cover renewal costs for their members. Here’s how it works:

1. Organization Manager: The unit’s Key 3 will log into Organization Manager and select the unit pay option.
2. Monthly Updates: Units receive monthly updates about members due for renewal.
3. Roster Management: Using the roster tab, units can select members to renew, opt-out members, and adjust Scout Life subscription settings.
4. Payment: The unit pays using a credit or debit card or ACH withdrawal, and then submits the renewal.

Streamlined Renewal Process

This new system aims to streamline the membership renewal process. While it might look different, it’s designed to be more efficient and user-friendly.
